Help & FAQ
How RoundSix works, and how we keep meeting new people safe and fun.
How RoundSix works
What is RoundSix?
We'll introduce you to a small group nearby who share your interests. Over the next few days you'll find out if you actually like each other, then make a plan to meet.
There are only two things to know:
- Your Circle: the people you're getting to know right now (up to 6 of you). You're in one circle at a time, for about a week.
- Your People: everyone you and they both chose to keep in touch with. They stay with you after the circle ends.
Can I join with a friend?
Yes. While you're waiting to be matched, tap Invite a friend on the matching card. Once your friend signs up with your link, you're both put in the same circle, with 4 people who are new to both of you. One pair per circle, so everyone still meets new people. We hold your spot for up to a day while your friend signs up, and you can go solo any time.
What is “What your city said”?
Every week, everyone in a city gets one local question, like Most underrated neighbourhood in Vancouver? or Biggest dating red flag in Calgary? (those are marked 🌶️). Answer in a few words from the Today screen. On Monday morning the answers are grouped and ranked, and you'll see where yours landed. You can share the ranking as a story card, and each ranking also gets its own public page.
Answers are anonymous. A ranking only goes out once enough people have answered, and an answer is only listed when several people gave it. A few answers may be quoted, without names.
How is RoundSix different from Meetup?
Meetup is great for finding events, and lots of people make friends that way. RoundSix does two things at once: it keeps introducing you to new people, and it helps you keep up with the ones you click with.
- Small groups, not crowds. Each circle is 5 people near you who share your interests and are free at similar times, so you actually talk to everyone. When a circle wraps up, you can start a new one and meet more people.
- You get to know each other first. Your circle answers a fun question a day for a few days, so when you meet you already have things to talk about.
- The plan happens. The group picks a time and an easy public spot together, and everyone says if they're in. Nobody has to organize it.
- New people, and the ones you already like. People you click with become Your People. You can make plans with them, bring them along to a hangout or start a small crew together, while still meeting new circles.
They work well together: a regular Meetup group plus RoundSix for meeting new people and keeping up with your favourites is a great combination.
How is RoundSix different from Timeleft?
Timeleft is a nice way to have dinner with strangers, and lots of people enjoy it. RoundSix works differently: you get to know a small group first, then meet, then keep the people you click with.
- You're not strangers when you meet. Your circle answers a question a day for a few days, and the answers open up together. By the hangout, you already know a few things about everyone.
- Close to home, at a time that works. Circles are people in your neighbourhood or nearby, and the group picks a time most of you are free, not a fixed night.
- Not just dinner. Hangouts come from what your circle says it's into: a hike, a patio, a show, a coffee walk. Many cost little or nothing.
- Free. Joining a circle, answering and planning a hangout are free. There's no membership.
- It doesn't end at the door. People you click with become Your People, so you can plan the next hangout with them while still meeting new circles.
Prefer a dinner with a fresh table every week? Timeleft is great for that. Want a few people nearby you'll actually see again? That's what RoundSix is for.
How does a circle work?
A circle has four steps. The bar at the top of your circle shows where you are.
- Get to know them. It starts with three quick questions you answer all at once, then one question at a time. Each one is a little more personal than the last.
- Make a plan. Every circle knows its hangout day from the start, 4 to 7 days in, at the time that suits most of your circle (you tell us when you’re usually free when you sign up, and can change it on your You page). On the fourth question, RoundSix picks what to do and where, from what your circle has said and what you have in common. Nobody has to organise it. You just say if you're in, and anyone can suggest something else.
- Meet. Say if you're in, pick the times that work, and go.
- Keep your people. Pick who you'd like to keep in touch with. Anyone who picks you too ends up in Your People.
How does matching work?
When you tap Find my circle, you join the queue for your area. We put together people who get along, not just people who ticked the same boxes:
- You'll share at least one interest, plus a few different ones, so there's always something to talk about.
- Ages are kept close together.
- Everyone lives close to you. We start within 10 km of your area and only widen if we need to (see How far away will my circle live?).
- Over time we learn who you actually click with, and use that too (see What does RoundSix learn about me?).
It usually takes a few hours. If it's quiet we'll make a slightly smaller circle, and after half a day of waiting we'll match you with a mix of people nearby. You'll get a notification the moment your circle is ready. When your circle opens, Why we matched you shows what you have in common.
Why do you ask about gender?
It's optional. If you answer, the matchmaker uses it for one thing: avoiding lopsided groups, like one woman with five men, when another group works just as well. It's never shown to anyone, never stored on your circle, and nobody else can read it. You can change or clear it any time under You → Edit profile → About you, and it's deleted with your account.
How far away will my circle live?
Close. When you sign up you pick your area: your neighbourhood or town. We match by distance, not by city lines, so someone in Surrey and someone in Burnaby can be in the same circle if they live close enough.
- We start by looking within 10 km of you.
- If it's quiet, we widen to 25 km after about 3 hours, and to 35 km after about 12 hours.
- We never put you with someone further than that.
The matching card always shows how far we're looking right now. Changing your area keeps your place in line.
Where is RoundSix open?
We're opening area by area, starting with Metro Vancouver. Towns close to an open area, like Abbotsford next to Langley, can join right away and are matched with people nearby. Elsewhere in Canada you can join the waitlist.
If your town isn't listed, tap My town isn't here during setup and we'll let you know when it opens.
What does "Waitlist" mean?
We open each area once enough people there have signed up, so circles fill up quickly and feel lively. If your area says Waitlist, you can still sign up: you'll see how many people have joined, and we'll send you a notification the moment it opens. Inviting friends nearby gets it open sooner.
Who can see my answers?
Answers are hidden until you've answered too. Before you answer, you only see how many answers are in. Once you answer, you see everyone's answers that are already in, and new ones as they arrive. Nobody has to wait for the slowest person.
You can edit your answer until the question closes. Only people in your circle ever see your answers, unless you choose to share one to your story.
What does "Reveal now" do?
If some people still haven't answered after a while (2 hours for the first three questions, 6 hours after that), anyone who has answered can tap Reveal now. Everyone sees the answers that are in, the next question goes up, and nobody is counted as missing that one.
Where can I see earlier answers?
Open your circle and tap Past answers at the top. Every question your circle has answered is there, newest first. Everyone in the circle can see its past answers, and you can still read them after the circle wraps up.
Is RoundSix free?
Yes.
Do I need to download an app?
No. RoundSix runs in your browser. For the best experience add it to your Home Screen: on iPhone, tap Share → Add to Home Screen; on Android, use the browser menu's Install app.
Getting to know people
Can I ask someone about their answer?
Yes. Under anyone's answer, tap 💬 Ask a follow-up. Pick one of the suggested questions or write your own. They get a ping and can reply once. Your whole circle sees the question and the reply, so everyone gets to know them a little better.
You can ask each answer one follow-up. Follow-ups follow the same community rules as answers.
What's the quick pick next to the question?
A one-tap this-or-that, like "Early bird or night owl". It's optional. After the reveal it shows next to your answer, and if someone picked the same, you'll both see "You both picked…". Over time it also helps us put you with people you'll get along with.
What are the awards?
After each question closes, RoundSix hands out one or two funny mini-awards for specific answers, like 🏆 Most Likely To Say Yes First. When your circle wraps up, there's an awards night where everyone gets one for their week. We spread them around, so nobody is left out.
Awards are written by AI and meant to tease the answer, never the person. They never joke about looks, health, money, relationships, religion, background or anything personal. If one misses the mark, tap Report and it comes down for everyone straight away.
If you win one, you can share it to your story. Only your own award and answer are on it, and your first name is optional.
What does "Curious" do?
After the first questions, you can tap Curious next to anyone you'd like to know more about. It's private. If they're curious about you too, you'll both find out. If not, they only get one note saying someone in your circle wants to know more about them. They're never told who.
What is "Why this person?"
Tap anyone's name to see why you might click: places you both mentioned, the same answer to a question, things you both want to do, shared interests, and how close you live. It's worked out on your phone from answers you can already see. Nobody else sees it.
How do I keep in touch with someone?
Tap Keep in touch under one of their answers, on their name, in the after-hangout check-in, or at the end of your circle. Nobody is told unless they pick you too.
When you pick each other, you're in each other's Your People. There you'll see whatever contact details each of you has added (phone, Instagram or email, all optional). If you add details later, they show up for your people straight away.
Where did "Swap contacts" go?
It's now Keep in touch: you both pick each other, and your details are shared through Your People. There are no requests to send or answer.
How do I remove someone from Your People?
Open People, tap their name and choose Remove from your people, or block them. You'll both stop seeing each other's details. Keep in mind they may already have saved what you shared.
Plans and hangouts
How do plans work?
From the fourth question, RoundSix suggests a plan based on what your circle has said: the activities people picked, places they mentioned, and shared interests. For example: "3 of you want to hike. Lynn Canyon Park, Saturday 10 AM or Sunday 2 PM." Tap I'm in, start the plan, or pick something else and choose your own place and times.
Everyone taps I'm in or Can't make it, then ticks the times that work. There's no maybe on purpose: plans happen when people commit. The best time is highlighted. You'll get a ping once 3 people are in, and again if everyone is. You can add it to your calendar.
Can I bring a friend?
Yes. Once you're in, tap Invite a friend to send a link. Your friend joins just that plan, not your circle. They see the plan, the place, the times and the first names of who's in. Everyone in the circle gets a ping that you're bringing someone.
Each person can bring one friend, up to four per plan, and friends need to be 18 or older.
What's the after-hangout check-in?
A couple of hours after the plan, RoundSix asks if you went, whether you'd hang out with the group again, and who you'd like to keep in touch with. Your answers are private. Mutual picks go straight to Your People, and the rest helps us find you better circles.
How do I meet up safely?
- Meet in a busy public place like a café, park, trail or venue, never at someone's home for a first hangout.
- Tell a friend where you're going and when.
- Get there and back on your own.
- Only keep in touch with people you're comfortable with. Nobody is told who you didn't pick.
- Trust your gut. You can leave whenever you want, and you can report or block anyone from their name.
- Add a meeting spot to the plan (like "north entrance by the bridge") so everyone finds each other easily.
- After the hangout, the check-in privately asks if anyone made you uncomfortable. Only the RoundSix team sees your answer.
Everyone who meets up has verified a phone number, and members have verified an email too. We don't run background checks, so look out for yourself and each other. If someone is in immediate danger, contact local emergency services.
When a circle ends
What happens when my circle ends?
After the first after-hangout check-in, your circle gets 48 hours to answer Who do you want to keep in touch with? Pick anyone you'd see again. Anyone who picks you too ends up in Your People.
If your circle has a plan, this waits until after you've met (up to about 10 days). Without a plan, it comes after about a week. You can also tap Keep in touch on anyone at any time, without waiting.
Then the circle wraps up. You can still read it, and you can meet new people right away.
Can our whole circle keep going?
Not as a group, for now. Each circle is about a week, and the people you click with stay in Your People. Keep in touch with everyone you'd like to see again, then plan the next thing yourselves.
Why was I removed from a circle?
Circles work best when everyone shows up, so if you miss three questions in a row your seat goes to someone new. You'll see a warning first. You can always meet a new circle.
Your account
Why do I need to verify my phone to meet up?
Before you say I'm in to a hangout, we ask you to verify an email and a phone number. A friend coming along to one hangout as a guest only confirms a phone number. Everyone you meet has done the same, which keeps hangouts accountable. It takes a minute: we text you a 6-digit code.
Your phone number is never shown to anyone in your circle, and we only use it to keep RoundSix safe. Answering questions and getting to know your circle doesn't need it.
Do I need an account?
No. RoundSix works right away without signing up. Until you save your account, your circle and Your People are tied to the browser you're using, so save it once you've kept in touch with someone. Profile photos and contact details need a saved account.
How do I keep my circle and people on a new phone?
Open You, then Save your account, and enter your email. We'll send a sign-in link; there's no password. Use the same email on any phone to get everything back: tap Sign in on the welcome screen (or under You) and we'll email you a link. This matters if you first opened RoundSix inside Instagram or TikTok, since their browsers don't keep your data for long.
How do I change my area, interests or details?
Open You. Tap Change next to Your area, Edit next to your interests, or Edit next to About you to change your age range or life stage. Changes apply to your next match.
How do notifications work?
We'll ask when you start looking for a circle. You'll get a ping when your circle is ready, when there's a new question, when someone's curious about you, when a plan is suggested or picks up momentum, and when you and someone are keeping in touch. Question pings are bundled to at most one every 15 minutes. On iPhone, notifications only work after you add RoundSix to your Home Screen and open it from there.
How do I add a profile photo?
Open You and tap Add a photo, or tap Add yours in your circle. A photo makes it much easier to spot each other when you meet up. Photos are for saved accounts, which keeps everyone accountable. If you haven't saved yours yet, pick a photo, enter your email and tap the link we send: your photo goes up straight after.
Every photo is checked automatically and hidden location data is removed. Only the people in your circle and Your People see it. You can hide it from people you've just been matched with under You.
How do I delete my account?
Open You, tap Delete my account and type DELETE. This permanently removes your name, area, interests, age range and life stage, your place in the matching queue, your circles, every answer you've given, your question-page answers, your photo, your contact details and Your People, your curious and keep-in-touch picks, your plan responses and check-ins, what RoundSix learned about you, and your saved sign-in and notification settings. It can't be undone. Can't sign in? Request deletion by email.
Safety and community rules
Who can use RoundSix?
RoundSix is for adults: you need to be 18 or older. That includes friends who join a plan.
What isn't allowed?
Be kind and keep it fun. These aren't allowed anywhere on RoundSix:
- Harassment, bullying, hate, threats, or making someone feel unsafe
- Selling, promotions, or OnlyFans-style links
- Putting handles, phone numbers or emails in answers or plans, or asking people to message you elsewhere. To stay in touch, use Keep in touch, which keeps it private.
- Links
- Payment handles, crypto addresses, scams and "investment opportunities"
- Nudity or sexual content
Posts that break these rules are blocked, and repeatedly trying to get around the filters suspends your account automatically.
How do I report or block someone?
Tap anyone's name or photo, then Report or Block. You can also report a single answer. Reports go only to the RoundSix team, and the person never finds out who reported them.
Blocking hides their answers for you and means you'll never be matched with them again. It also removes them from Your People. They aren't told.
What happens after I report something?
Our team reviews it, with safety reports first. We may remove the answer or photo, remove the person from the circle, or suspend their account so they can't be matched with anyone.
What does a suspended account mean?
A suspended account can still read its circle but can't answer, be matched, pick people, plan or join hangouts, or add a photo.
What are question pages and story cards?
Some of the lighter questions can be shared. Tap Share to your story under your own answer to make a card with the question and your answer only, never anyone else's. The link opens the question's public page, where anyone can answer anonymously, see how others answered, and get matched with people nearby.
More personal questions, and ones about your circle, are never shareable. Answers on question pages are hidden automatically after two reports.
Privacy
Who can see my contact details?
Only Your People: the people you and they both chose to keep in touch with. Your phone number, Instagram and email are all optional, and they're never shown in your circle, on your profile, or to anyone you haven't both picked.
If you change or remove a detail, your people see the change. To stop sharing with someone, remove them from Your People or block them.
What does RoundSix learn about me?
Matching starts with what you tell us. After that, we learn from who you actually click with: who you're curious about, who you keep in touch with, and which hangouts you'd do again. We use this only to find you better circles. Once there's enough to go on, you'll see a line about it under You, like "You click most with people into food and live music." It's deleted with your account.
What do you store about me?
Your email and phone number (never shown to other members), the name you choose, your area (a neighbourhood or town), interests, age range and life stage, your circles and answers, your curious and keep-in-touch picks, your plan responses and after-hangout check-ins, what RoundSix has learned about who you click with, awards you've won, people you've blocked, your profile photo and contact details if you add them, your email if you save your account, and notification settings if you turn them on.
If you use Use my location, your location is only used on your phone to pick the nearest neighbourhood or town. We never store or send it.
Does AI read my answers?
Only to write the awards and to suggest follow-up questions. When a question closes, the answers in your circle (with first names only) are sent to our AI provider, Anthropic, to write that day's awards, and again at the end of the week for awards night. When someone taps "Ask a follow-up", that one answer is sent, without your name, to suggest questions. They aren't used to train AI models, and nothing else is sent. Awards are only visible to your circle unless the winner shares their own.
Do you use analytics?
Yes. We use Google Analytics to understand how RoundSix is used, like how quickly people get matched and how many plans turn into real hangouts, so we can make it better. We never send the content of your answers, your name, your email or your contact details to analytics.
Accessibility
What accessibility features does RoundSix support?
We want everyone to be able to meet people on RoundSix. Here's where things stand in the iPhone app:
- Larger text. The app follows your iPhone's text size (Settings → Display & Brightness → Text Size, or Accessibility → Display & Text Size → Larger Text), up to well over twice the standard size.
- Dark mode. RoundSix follows your iPhone's light or dark setting, with colours made for each.
- Reduce Motion. With Reduce Motion on, animations are turned off or replaced with simple fades.
- Contrast. Text in the iPhone app meets standard contrast guidelines (at least 4.5:1 for regular text).
- VoiceOver. Buttons and controls have labels, and new messages and updates are announced. We're still testing every screen with VoiceOver, so some parts may be harder to use. If one is, please tell us.
The website and the Android app follow your browser's or phone's own text size and dark mode settings.
Something is hard to use. How do I tell you?
Email hello@roundsix.app with "Accessibility" in the subject, or use Send feedback or an idea on the You tab in the app. Tell us which screen and what you use (for example VoiceOver or a larger text size), and we'll fix it.
Nothing matches that. Try a different word.
